RARE and early Cross belt plate - 65th Regiment of Foot.

Rectangular Crossbelt plate with LXV inscribed on face. complete with original fixing lugs to back
Condition - worn, with surface covered in scratches, but regimental number still clearly visible.

The 65th (2nd Yorkshire , North Riding regiment were raised in 1756. 

This cross belt plate was found in Guadeloupe by Dr Litchfield of Tobago. The regiment served in the expedition to Guadeloupe in 1759.

Extremely RARE example of such an early Crossbelt plate.
